Award in Education & Training Level 3 (formerly PTTLS) is an introduction for those who wish to train or teach.

This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for anyone who is currently working in a training, tutoring or assessing role, or who is entering this profession.  This is the first stage of the teaching qualification for those working in FE (colleges of further education), Adult Education, Community Education and Work Based Learning.

It is increasingly being required for trainers delivering all forms of government funded learning. It is seen as the 'threshold qualification' for all new tutors; until is achieved new tutors may have their teaching supervised. It may also be required for vocational/apprenticeship assessors.

This is a QCF recognised formal qualification that will equip learners with the necessary knowledge to deliver effective training or teaching to their own learners and who:

  • require an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and gain
    a formal recognised qualification
  • are seeking career progression within their own area of work
  • are seeking progression towards ATLS/QTLS status or teach on a one to one or
    group basis.
