Short Courses
Short Courses are a great way to enhance your skills and employability. We have a large number of candidates working towards National Qualifications in various occupational areas throughout the UK and overseas, and in the past 8 years, more than 1000 candidates have gained a recognised qualification through ourselves.
All courses available 'in-house' for 8-12 delegates at a reduced rate. JB Management reserve the right to change dates as per delegate demand - courses will run with minimum 8 delegates. All of our courses are certificated by one of these Internationally recognised Bodies. Modern Apprenticeships may be available in all the S/NVQ's we offer, and funding may be available from Skills Development Scotland.
PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) - 5 days
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is an introduction for those who wish to train or teach. This is a QCF recognised formal qualification that will equip learners with the necessary knowledge to deliver effective training or teaching to their own learners and who:
• require an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and gain a formal recognised qualification
• are seeking career progression within their own area of work
• are seeking progression towards ATLS/QTLS status or teach on a one to one or group basis.
Driver CPC Centre – 1 Day
Driver CPC is an abbreviation of 'Driver Certificate of Professional Competence'. The EU passed the Driver CPC Directive in 2003. This affects all professional LGV and PCV drivers. For new drivers it introduces a new initial qualification, the Driver CPC, which increases the level of knowledge that drivers need before they can drive. All drivers, new and existing, now have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC remains valid. This is known as Periodic training.
SMSTS – Construction Skills Course - 5 days
This course is designed for Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and Proprietors of smaller companies. This course would also benefit client based personnel. This SMSTS is identified in Approved Codes of Practice as the core training for all Site Managers.
SMSTS Refresher – Construction Skills Course - 2 days
This course is designed for those who currently hold the Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate (SMSTS) and now wish to update their skills and knowledge in line with current legislation and require their CITB 5 day Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate.
SSSTS – Construction Skills Course - 2 days
This course is for first line managers - those who have, or are about to acquire supervisory responsibilities. It provides an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those requiring an understanding of their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site.
IOSH - Managing safely - 4 days
This course is aimed at managers and supervisors in any sector and any organization so that they can effectively manage health & safety in the workplace. This four day course, certified by the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety, will give managers and supervisors from companies of all sizes a comprehensive knowledge of how to manage health & safety in the workplace. Candidates are awarded the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate after successfully completing the course assessment.
IOSH- Working safely - 1 day
This is a one-day course designed to ensure that all non-managerial staff have a basic understanding of safe and healthy working practices and are able to comply with both statutory requirements and those of their employer in accordance with the company Health and Safety policy.
IOSH- Work Placement Personnel - 2 days
This two-day course covers topics ranging from Law and responsibilities, to common hazards including fire, electricity, chemicals, vehicles and computer equipment. By the end of this course, you will feel confident and competent in safeguarding your placements so their time with you is safe, healthy and happy.
Manual Handling - 1 Day
This qualification introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what is expected from a manual handling assessment. The course is designed to meet the requirements and recommendations of the HSE Manual Handling Regulations 1992, and is aimed at those who carry out manual handing activities at work and encourages employees to develop safer manual handling techniques in the workplace. This course has been approved by Driver CPC.
Asbestos Awareness - ½ Day
Asbestos Awareness training is required to be given to employees whose work could expose them to asbestos, i.e. all demolition, refurbishment workers, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that their work will disturb the fabric of a building and Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) may become exposed. This half day course in an introduction to working with Asbestos.
RTITB Forklift Training – Counterbalance and Reach (Novice and Refresher)
JB Management offer RTITB Accredited Lift Truck operator training, accredited by the RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board). The NORS (National Operator Registration Scheme) is a centralised registration and certification system for Lift Truck operators and other mechanical handling equipment drivers.
This qualification is aimed at novices through to refresher courses for experienced drivers.
BTEC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (QCF)
The Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (QCF) is designed for people who want to work as door supervisors and require a licence to practice. The qualification is endorsed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and learners who complete it successfully can apply to the SIA for a licence. Further information about who requires a licence is available from the SIA.
The Edexcel BTEC Award in Door Supervision (Scotland) is a 38 guided learning hour (GLH) qualification consisting of four mandatory units.
